2024 was a super turnaround year. Predictably unpredictable. Here are some things that I learned or reinforced.

1. Being Frank > Being Nice

In business dealings, a few negotiations are bound to fail, and when you know that early on, it is better to be frank upfront and save time than be nice and drag it. Being frank helps the other party to know that you are sincere and some things are non-negotiable. #reinforce

2. You will get ignored and that is fine.

No matter how genuine you are, how good your work is, or how successful or unsuccessful you are in an ecosystem, a few ecosystem cohorts will not invite you or your endeavors! Accept it. Fair enough. Everything is compounding. Stay grounded. Keep Building!

You create your cohort.

3. Don't trust the ones that you didn't trust earlier.

Seriously!

No chance taken.

People change, so you may think someone might be trustworthy now!

But no. Not going that way anymore.

4. Always Welcome External Triggers

We had been sitting on a community idea at Foundership for a long time (2 years).

We got a few folks pinging us and asking why not formalize a full community 'platform' initiative rather than too much 'manual' hard work.

External Trigger helped us to make it happen!

5. Team > Idea (reinforcement)

We all know it.

Two of our Alumni Startups at Foundership have taken off big time just because they have an A+ team, founders, and founding members.

Team any day.
